“Sanatan Dharma,” often referred to as Hinduism, is one of the world’s oldest religions, with a history spanning thousands of years. “Sanatan” means eternal, and “Dharma” encompasses the moral, ethical, and religious duties and responsibilities that support the proper order of the universe.

Key elements of Sanatan Dharma include:

  1. Vedas: These ancient texts, composed in Sanskrit, are the oldest scriptures of Hinduism and are considered the most authoritative.
  2. Concept of God: Hinduism has a diverse range of beliefs regarding God. It includes monotheistic traditions (belief in one God), as well as polytheistic beliefs (belief in multiple gods and goddesses). Some Hindus are also non-theistic, focusing on spiritual practices rather than deities.
  3. Concept of Atman and Brahman: The belief in the eternal soul (Atman) and the cosmic spirit (Brahman) is fundamental. The ultimate goal often involves realizing the unity of Atman with Brahman.
  4. Cycle of Birth, Death, and Reincarnation: The idea of samsara (the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth) is central to Hinduism. One’s actions (karma) in this life influence future existences.
  5. Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha: The four primary aims of life according to Hinduism are Dharma (duty, righteousness), Artha (wealth, prosperity), Kama (pleasure, desire), and Moksha (liberation, release from the cycle of rebirth).
  6. Yoga and Meditation: These practices aim to achieve spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. There are various paths of yoga, such as Karma Yoga (the yoga of selfless action), Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotion), Jnana Yoga (the yoga of knowledge), and Raja Yoga (the yoga of meditation and mental control).
  7. Cultural diversity: Hinduism embraces a wide variety of beliefs, rituals, customs, and traditions. It has accommodated various cultural practices and local beliefs over millennia.

Sanatan Dharma is a complex and multifaceted religion with a rich tapestry of beliefs and practices, making it one of the most diverse and inclusive belief systems in the world.

It’s important to note that Hinduism has evolved over centuries, and practices and beliefs can vary greatly among its followers, with multiple sects, practices, and regional variations within the broader framework of Sanatan Dharma.
