  • In 2010, Hyderabadi Haleem was granted a GI tag, or Geographical Indication Status (GIS), by the Indian GIS Registry Office.
  • It is especially popular during the holy month of Ramadan and is widely consumed as a special dish to break the fast (Iftar).
  • However, it’s enjoyed throughout the year as well.
