- Glyptodon was a genus of large, Heavily armored mammals of the subfamily Glyotontinae.
- Glyptodon wass relatives of Armadillos – that lived during the Pleistcene epoch.
- Body – Rounded Bony Shell and Squat Limbs. It superficially resemled a turtle.
- Glyptodon, and most of the American megafauna, became extinct by about 10,000 years ago.
- It is believed that humans hunted these animals and used their bony shells as shelters during inclement weather.
